How to select a theme for your blog:
You have probably noticed that wordpress blogs can look very different and this is because there are so many themes to choose from. Most of the themes are free and those that can be purchased tend to be about $75. If you see a blog layout you like, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will see the name of its theme.
To choose a theme, go to your dashboard and select ‘Appearance’ in the left side bar and then select themes. As you’ll see below, there are many to choose from and more are being added all the time.
YYou can click preview to see any theme you want and each one has a brief description showing what it may be best suited to. My Irish Farmerette blog is the popular Twenty Ten theme. Some of the themes have quite a narrow blog, such as the Misty Look which I use for my Wallpaper Review blog. You can see how I have ‘filled’ in the background with a wallpaper design. If you wish to do something similar, simply select ‘Appearance’, then ‘background’ and you can then select a photograph from the files on your computer. As mine is a plain repetitive design, I opted for the ’tile’ effect so the whole background would be covered. However, enjoy playing around with it, making your blog as individual as you would like it to be.
You can change from one theme to another at any time, the advice being to back up any files to date beforehand. Widgets may need reorganising after a change.
