Well now you can with a virtual book tour.

What is a virtual book tour?
On a virtual book tour, authors promote their books by making “virtual” stops during a scheduled week on blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter chats and other places online.

How does it work?
We match authors with handpicked bloggers in their niche area and then schedule stops on a virtual book tour. Usually, the host blogger will write a review of your book, or you might prefer to write a guest post or do an interview for their blog instead. We encourage authors on tour to offer a signed copy of your book as a giveaway.

Why take part in a virtual book tour?
Virtual tours help build buzz for your book and gets people talking about it online.

Looking for more reasons to take part?

Here are ten more reasons to take part in a virtual tour.

1. Google loves blogs. You will increase your chance of being found on an internet search if your book appears on multiple blogs. Each post you create on a blog is an opportunity for you to rank for a specific set of keywords in Google’s search engine results page.

2. Your host blogger will provide a direct link to your online purchasing site, increasing your chances of a sale.

3. Virtual tours are a cost effective way to promote your book (no travel costs).

4. You can drive more traffic to your own author blog or website through a virtual tour.

5. You will have a more global platform to reach your audience.

6. You will benefit from the implied endorsement of your book when others help you promote it.

7. You get to interact directly with the people most interested in reading and buying your books.

8. You develop longer term relationships with bloggers and other key influencers – perfect for promoting your next book, or your product or service.

9. Potential buyers can try before they buy by sampling your product online.

10. You get exposure to new audiences you might not have otherwise have been able to reach.

    Hi Marie,
Thanks for replying to my tweet expressing interest in linking up with an author to promote their book on my blog – it’s a brilliant concept, a win-win all round, and it’s great to help each other. My blog is about my breast cancer, diagnosed with bi-lateral BC in May 2012, unrelated, different primary tumours, one lobular, one ductal, both invasive. Had lumpectomys, had to return for a mastectomy on one side – 14.4cm tumour removed including chest wall tissue and a 12 inch scar – no recon yet, maybe never. Spread to 9 lymph nodes, so clearance on one side, the other side only lost 4 and seem OK. Currently halfway through chemo, then herceptin, rads, a further mastectomy on the other side, and eventually onto a Tamoxifen equivalent for 5 years. Prognosis less than 70% survival, but I’ve never lost an important battle yet, and bringing up 3 disabled children on my own has done wonders for my resilience, resourcefulness and tenacity, so I’m applying all these transferable skills to the business in hand of beating cancer! My kids sometimes feature in the blogs, but it can be difficult to bang on about them too much because now they are teenagers and young adults there are confidentiality issues, and they might die of embarrassment with their friends if I revealed too many secrets!! The blog is very honest and open, and sometimes very funny too. Lots of people would love to see it as a book, it’s not quite long enough yet but will be very soon, but I don’t know how you finish a book before it gets an ending – either a happy or a sad one! My next job is to turn it into a stage play, becuase I have been asked to take a staged version of it into the Brighton Fringe next year – all very exciting, and certainly takes your mind off having BC! I’ll be visiting your websites often and picking up social media tips, compared to all the twitter community, I’m a bit of a novice still! Take care, speak soon, Yvonne
