Have you tried Vine yet? Owned by twitter, it allows you to create really quick 6 second video stories and it is so so easy to use.

How to Embed Vine in WordPress blog The videos go around in a loop, there is no need for editing. When recording you just keep your finger on your iphone screen (I think the app is only available on iphones as yet) and then remove it for it to instantly stop recording. A progressing little green line shows you the time already recorded and the amount of time left. You may think six seconds is nothing and yes, it is short but you’d be surprised how much you can fit into 6 seconds.

It’s really easy to share to twitter, facebook and your website or blog too.

I tried to create a video last night with my daughter when she was making pancakes but I kept touching the screen for it to start recording and removing the touch instantly and forgetting I had to keep my finger on it.  I had better luck today when we were making a marble cake for the first time (though I should have used a bundt tin and then it would have cooked in the middle but it was fun!)

Here’s my Vine video and then I’ll explain how to embed your video:

How To Embed Your Vine Video Into Your Blog Post

You can get the embed code so the whole tweet is embedded and the video will play.  Go to the tweet, clicking the ‘More’ button and then clicking Embed.

When embedding your vine videoost, copy the code provide and then click the ‘html’ part of the writing box, paste the code wherever you want the embedded tweet to go and return to ‘visual’ part of the writing box.

If you wish to embed it without the embedded tweet, use the code below, changing the pink part with the link to your own vine video.

<p><iframe src=“http://vine.co/v/b1XDh7Lb3gE” width=”380″ height=”380″ frameborder=”0″></iframe></p>

You can also use hashtags when captioning your vine video – the most popular seem to be #howto #sport #food #firstpost #fashion.  I can see vine being so popular (and so effective) for recipes, decorators, how to videos and much more.  Have you tried it yet?

I wan’t going to give Vine a go. After reading your post on it sure it’s worth a try for my food recipes. Tks:) Marian

I think it will be huge for food, people can see the process of making a dish and then decide if they want to get the ingredients and more detail on the method. Look out for a vine video of a cow giving birth soon :)

That should be an interesting one!!

I was using this last week, but for some reason the upload kept failing in the Vine site. I found it quite annoying and gave up all together, I might give it another chance! thanks for sharing this, if I can make it work, it could be very handy for my “how to” posts in the blog!

    • Lorna Sixsmith

Do try it again Lily. I noticed some glitches over the weekend too so I think it is bound to happen when it is so new. There were even glitches with showing the video within the embedded tweet but it seems to be working okay now. I think it will work really well for those ‘how to’ posts

hi! thanks a lot but I tried in a wordpress blog but it doesn’t work… I put whole code in the ‘html’ part of the writing box, then in the visual window vine video doesn’t appear…only links…
thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english :-)

    • Lorna Sixsmith

      Hi Antonio,

Did you publish the post and it wasn’t there? It won’t show until the post is published and you look at the published post.

Hi Lorna, I’ve tried over the last while to embed the vine file on my WordPress.org account and it just wouldn’t appear. It seems to put a small video with just Herbi & Carni in it and messed up the rest of the screen. By any chance do you know what I could’ve done incorrectly?
