This week Alison Morgan asks us the following question:

What is the best way to incorporate a call to action in your blog?

The Answer

This is a great question from Alison, particularly for business bloggers. After all, more often than not, you want your readers to take some action when they visit your site  - for example, click through to order your product, subscribe to your site, share your content.

You would be surprised how many blogs or websites omit a call to action.

So today we want to let you in on the secret to a call to action.

But once you do this, there are two rules you should follow:

  1. Make it simple
  2. Make it specific

Include a strong call to action, which tells your readers exactly what  to do, how to do it, and make it easy for them to do it straight away.

Here are some examples of calls to action you could use:

  • Click here to buy
  • Sign up today for great tips
  • Get your free e-book
By incorporating a call to action button (such as the examples below) you will more easily draw the reader’s eye to the action you want them to take.

How To Include A Call To Action In Three Easy Steps

  1. Decide what action you want readers to take.
  2. Ask them to take that action.
  3. Make it clear and unambiguous how they can do this.

    I am in the process of designing a website for myself and this has been very useful to read – I think it is easy to overlook strong calls to action – esp if you don’t want to come across too salesy – would you have any advice on this?
