In last night’s#BlogChatIE Twitter discussion we discussed ways in which we could reignite our passion for blogging. You can catch up with the tweets with our Storify.

I also spotted the same theme on Copyblogger, with Sonia Simone reminding us that blogs and businesses in general are a lot like marriages.

Sometimes you’ve got to put in a little extra work to keep that spark alive.

I have picked out my top two favourite tips of her 7 tips to falling in love with your blog all over again to complement last night’s Twitter discussion.

1. Connect

Visit your favourite blogs,  read their most recent posts, and drop some comment love. Remember how they used to inspire you to create better content yourself? Let them inspire you all over again.  Go make some connections — and not just with your heroes. Connect with that wonderful reader who always leaves awesome comments. Connect with the blogger who’s got about as many readers as you do. Connect with the person on Twitter who always makes you laugh.

2. Write your manifesto

Come up with 10 core, essential values your business stands for. If they don’t make you tingle, you’re not being honest. Don’t put boring platitudes like “excellent service.” Find the values that put a lump in your throat. Now, think about how you’re going to live that statement of values this week. What are you doing to show the world what you stand for?

How about you? What do you do when you need to rekindle that spark? Let us know about it in the comments.

Really insightful although customer service was /is one of the things that I had hoped would set us apart as Zak often spends hours trying to help customer solve problem e.g. Leaking tap , for something as small as a valve /spindle sale – he won’t try and get customer to buy new tap- so will have to see how we can rephrase that one differently

  2. Absolutely love #1 and this is what I’m working on with my Blog Commenting Weekend event on my Facebook page. I am so happy about the wonderful bloggers that I’ve met through that and how we are interacting more with each other. Connect is the word!
