Writing a great blog post is just the first step in getting your content read. You also need to promote your blog on a variety of social media platforms. In today’s Blog Tip Tuesday, I want to show you how you can do this automatically on WordPress with the Publicize feature.
Publicize makes it easy to promote your blog by sharing your WordPress.com posts to your accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Linkedin.
Here’s how to do it.
1. Set up Publicize
To set up publicize on your WordPress blog go to Settings -> Sharing in your site Dashboard.
2. Connect your WordPress blog to your social media sites
A list of the services to which you can share your posts will appear on your screen. Click Add Connection for each site you wish to connect with.
A message will appear asking you to authorize the connection between your WordPress.com blog and your social networking accounts, providing access to public profile and friend list. If you are happy to do this, click ok.
3. Using Publicize
Once you’ve approved a connection to any or all of your social networking sites, you’ll see a Publicize section in the Publish box on your post writing screen each time you write a new post.
Now when you hit publish on your WordPress blog it also sends your blog posts to your connected social media networking sites to automatically promote them for you.
If you want to opt out from any of the Publicize services for a specific post, just click the Publicize Edit link. You can then uncheck whichever services you want.
