Ok, just tried the following tweet using the link shortening in hootsuite and it seems to have worked ok.

Hi Ailis, I wasn’t aware that it wouldn’t work if you did this – i must investigate my own tweets as I use hootsuite too.

Ailis, I use TweetDeck to schedule my posts. I keep a doc with all the tweets that I want to retweet and copy/paste from there.

For example, I have bits of text like this:

3 easy ways to get more comments on your #blog http://bit.ly/XXC6Vd #blogboost #blogtip

Would that work from HootSuite too?

Hi Marie, have tried tonight using hootsuite to put link in the middle of the tweet i.e. I put it into the normal ‘link’ box, shortened it, then copied and pasted this link into the middle of the tweet. I scheduled it in order to preview it, but the link did not work. It seems to only work at the end of the tweet in Hootsuite. Any ideas ? or is there another platform that might enable me to do this ‘link in the middle of the tweet’?

Excellent tips! I use 1, 2 (110-120 characters is best), and 4 all the time. I need to work more on 3 to get different spins on the way you can introduce a tweet.

Another great tip is to retweet older posts also. Many bloggers tweet their latest and forget that they still have so many other great posts that have wonderful into that their tweeps would use and enjoy.
