Whether you are just starting your blog or you have been blogging for a while, today’s Blog Tip Tuesday post on how to set up your WordPress profile page should be of interest to you.
So why should you set up a public profile page on WordPress?
Much like your blog’s About Page which gives readers an insight into what they can expect from your blog, your WordPress profile is a way of others learning a little more about who you are when you leave a comment on their blog.
There are two parts to setting up your WordPress profile page.
(1) Public profile information – your name and whatever biographical details you wish to share with the public;
(2) Your Gravatar (which stands for “Globally Recognized Avatar”) is an image you choose that will appear next to your name when you comment on or post to a blog.
Even if you are an experienced blogger who has already done Steps 1 and 2 above, take the opportunity today to review your information and see if you can improve on your WordPress profile page.
(1) To fill out your public profile, log in to your WordPress.com dashboard and click on Users >> My Profile.
Fill out your information and click Save.
(2) Uploading your Gravatar
To create your Gravatar, go to Users >> My Profile and click on Change your Gravatar:
You can choose to upload a photo from your computer, take a picture of yourself using the camera on your computer, link to a photo of yourself online, or use a Gravatar from a previous account. Alternatively you can choose to upload your business logo instead of a personal image.
Our blog tip today focusses on the WordPress blogging platform, but the same advice to fill out your profile in a way that is informative and engaging applies to all blogging platforms.
